The agency we worked with was responsible for the safety and well-being of children across 47 counties. It established and enforced fair child support orders for non-custodial parents and acted as a neutral third party, facilitating timely and accurate payment deliveries to custodial parents or guardians and promoting conflict resolution. 

Underpinning these efforts was a robust data collection and reporting system which enabled the agency to track child support cases and outstanding legal issues. However, the agency’s home-grown legacy BI system, built on Oracle Hyperion and IBM DB2, was approaching end-of-life, putting their reporting capabilities at risk. This situation exemplifies the cost and complexity issues mentioned earlier, as well as the lack of flexibility inherent in many homegrown solutions.

Without its 200+ critical reports supporting federal measures, case audits, payment history, court calendars, and e-filings, the agency stared at a complete breakdown of its operations. The situation necessitated a modern, more efficient reporting solution.

Our team worked closely with the agency to implement Pixel Perfect for Tableau, focusing on four key areas including: 

• Self-Service Reporting:
  We enabled users to request formatted reports directly through a user-friendly front-end interface, addressing the user unfriendliness often associated with homegrown solutions.
• Data Integration:
  Pixel Perfect was configured to interact seamlessly with Tableau, retrieving data from DB2 stored procedures.
• Flexible Output:
  The system now generates both print-ready PDFs and CSV files, catering to different user needs and enhancing flexibility.
• Regulatory Compliance:
  We integrated a content management system to ensure adherence to federal retention policies.
