You’ve been advocating for BI and analytics modernisation for a long time. Can you tell us why and what’s the urgency?
Two primary reasons. First, Business Intelligence (BI) platforms have been around for 40+ years and in this time, hundreds of BI vendors have attempted to fulfil the needs of Reporting and Analytics. This has created a Swiss cheese effect with massive silos within enterprise technology landscape. Collectively, industry spends billions of dollars to maintain, upkeep and run these systems. Quite often, BI reports are run in a batch mode on a periodical basis like monthly, quarterly, annually etc. Clearly, I see an opportunity to transform this landscape and implement Agile Analytics at the point of decision making. Secondly, decision makers are trained to think analysis and analytics as two separate artifacts. Humans use analytics to justify their analysis. With the advent of AI, Analytics and Analysis converge. Which is natural.
